Youth and Family Awards Evening

SYFS were pleased to hold their Youth and Family Awards Evening to recognise and applaud the young people and family members for their achievement in the face of great adversity.

The event attended by over 330 guests, highlighted by the Premier of NSW, Mike Baird and other Local and State Members of Parliament – Gareth Ward, Anna Watson, Lee Evans and Local Councillors.

We had local Aboriginal Elders attend and Uncle Gee performed the Welcome to Country. There were many Businesses in attendance, many of whom had sponsored Awards during the evening.

There were also many Government and Community agencies in attendance, some who have shared the support of Young People and Families.

There were over 30 Awards presented during the evening to Family Members and Young People.

The event also featured entertainment, A welcome dance performed by Richard Campbell and local indigenous youth dancers The Little Nargens. Following this, we saw recent The Voice Finalist Adam Laddell and the wonderful Shellie Morris and Djackapurra Munyarryan singing performing.

One of the highlights was the performance of some young people who had attended a music workshop with Shellie Morris in the days prior to the Event and had written and recorded a song, performed then presented it to Premier Mike Baird.

We would like to thank all those who attended the Youth and Family Awards Event and in particular congratulate all the Young People and Families that won awards and performed.
