Specialist Intervention For Youth - SPIFY
This Program targets vulnerable, disadvantaged and homeless young people in OoHC aged 12-23 years and those at risk of disadvantage and homelessness. SPIFY provides support to workers in the field of early intervention and liaises between the Community Sector and South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health - Mental Health Service.
SPIFY provides a range of services including:
- assessment and referral
- support and advocacy
- information clinical supervision and consultation in casework training, education and support to community and services staff
- assistance in the development of Behaviour Management Plans in consultation with direct care staff, management and the young people
- advice and supervision for direct care staff
- liaison between OoHC staff, management and external agencies and Government Departments

SPIFY is self funded by SYFS. It was originally funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care's National Suicide Prevention Strategy through the NSW Department of Health and then for one year the South East Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service funded a secondment.
