Shellharbour Youth Provided Employment Opportunity
Southern Youth and Family Services (SYFS) were pleased to recently partner with Shellharbour City Council on a new initiative to provide employment opportunities to young people.
Shellharbour City Council created and funded new positions in their City Library to provide employment opportunities for young people in the Shellharbour LGA.
Marge Kirkness, Manager for Libraries and Museum, said “We think this is an exciting opportunity for local young people to be engaged in the vibrant services that our libraries offer and to gain experience in a contemporary customer service environment”
SYFS and Shellharbour Council worked together to recruit casual Youth Library Assistants and were extremely pleased with the number and quality of applications from young people. It is pleasing that two young people have now been employed and started their training. Congratulations to them both.
These created positions will see a continuing opportunity for young people to be able to gain employment and experience within the City Library and Shellharbour City Council.
